About Us
Officially launched in 1983, the KHC began as a research and teaching project of QCC History Professor and department chair Dr. William Shulman, who, during the mid-1970s, realized there was a great paucity of useful teaching resources on the Holocaust.
Events & Recordings
In person programs take place at the KHC unless noted otherwise. Events are free and open to all, but registration ahead of time is required and visitors must show ID upon entering the campus at Queensborough Community College (QCC).
NEH Colloquium
Drawing on the Kupferberg Holocaust Center as a place for sharing stories of survival in the face of the Holocaust through exhibitions and programming, the 2026-27 colloquium addresses storytelling as a form of resistance against the legacy of Nazi persecution.

Our Mission
- The mission of the Harriet and Kenneth Kupferberg Holocaust Center (KHC) is to use the lessons of the Holocaust to educate current and future generations about the ramifications of prejudice, racism, and stereotyping.
- We are neither a museum nor a library: we are a learning laboratory where students, survivors, and community members learn through their hearts, minds, and actions. In doing so, we teach and empower citizens how to become agents of positive social change in their lives and in their communities.
- We host a range of programs about Holocaust memory and its ongoing impact across, as well as relevancy to, societies around the world through annual commemorations, public programs, student-focused initiatives, our National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) colloquia series led by QCC faculty, and tours of our exhibitions.
